Ulaanbaatar. In the framework of the 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, the National Museum of Natural Science is pleased to announce the opening of the special exhibition "World of Butterflies", which will be accessible to the public starting tomorrow, August 19, 2026.

The exhibition aims to highlight rare butterfly species of conservation significance in Mongolia, raise public awareness about wildlife conservation, and promote the importance of biodiversity. 
A key highlight of the exhibition is the display of approximately 900 butterfly specimens belonging to over 500 species from Mongolia and 13 other countries around the world, gathered together in a single venue.
Main Sections of the Exhibition:
Habitat and Distribution: Presents the unique living environments, geographic distribution, and life cycle stages of butterflies from Mongolia and around the globe.
Research and Collection: Illustrates the scientific journey of specimens, tracing the process from field research and collection to becoming valuable museum exhibits.
Wildlife Conservation: Emphasizes the ecological importance and conservation value of rare and endangered butterfly species in Mongolia.
